Want to Be a Surrogate Mother?
Becoming a surrogate mother is generous and rewarding. You may consider surrogacy if you have had an easy time giving birth in the past and want to help intended parents achieve their dreams of parenthood. Although surrogacy can seem like a simple nine-month process, it is a much bigger commitment than you may think.
You should understand everything surrogacy entails before committing to the journey. At Baby Steps Surrogacy Center, Inc., we will guide you through an intensive application process to ensure you are both physically and emotionally fit for surrogacy.
To become a surrogate mother, you must meet some initial qualifications. You must be a non-smoker, be a non-drug user, have a healthy body-mass index, undergo and pass mental health evaluations, be free of sexually transmitted infections, be of child-bearing age, and have already successfully carried one baby to term.
Once you pass the initial qualifications for surrogacy, you must wait until an intended parent or couple chooses you as a match for their journey. Meeting the initial qualifications will place you in our system, but it is ultimately up to the parents to decide which surrogate mother they want to use.
Preparing for Surrogacy
Although we will take you through mental health evaluations, you should also prepare for surrogacy on your own. You should prepare for the physical aspects of pregnancy and the burden of carrying a baby that is not your own.
You will have to suffer through pregnancy without the reward of keeping the child. You also must prepare for giving up the baby after the birth. Finally, you must prepare to communicate with the intended parents every step of the way through your pregnancy and know that they have power over many decisions.
